0 % — amounts are scaled to 100
How it works
The math, in the open.
Enter your total and adjust any percentage. If your numbers do not add up to 100, every category is scaled so the amounts still total your budget. The starting values are placeholders to edit, not an average of what couples spend.
| Step | Formula |
|---|---|
| Per guest | total budget ÷ guests |
| Category amount | budget × category % ÷ sum of all % |
| Starting split | example only; not based on a survey |
Example: $30,000 for 100 guests is $300 a guest. At 30% the venue gets $9,000.
FAQ
Questions people ask.
What is a good per-guest budget?
It depends on region, season and style. Divide your total by your guest list first: cutting 20 guests often frees more money than trimming a category.
Why doesn't this show average wedding costs?
We only publish figures we can source. Industry surveys exist, but they are not official data, so we let you set the split.
What costs do couples forget?
Taxes and service charges on catering, gratuities, permit or license fees, and vendor meals. Add them to "Everything else."
