How it works
The math, in the open.
Batching skips the shaker, so the water that ice would have added goes into the pitcher instead. 20% is a starting assumption; stirred, spirit-forward drinks often take a bit less and shaken sours a bit more. Keep acidic juices fresh: mix them in on the day.
| Step | Formula |
|---|---|
| Each ingredient | oz per drink × servings |
| Water | (sum of ingredients) × dilution % |
| Spirit bottles | base spirit oz ÷ 25.36 (one 750 ml bottle), rounded up |
| Default dilution | 20%, an assumption you can change |
Example: 50 drinks of 2 oz spirit, 1 oz and 0.75 oz modifiers with 20% water: 100 + 50 + 37.5 oz, plus 37.5 oz water = 225 oz, and 4 bottles of spirit.
